What happens when you take a piece of Mountain Man and mold it together with a slice of Megafaun? Mountain Faun? Mega Man? A sandwich? None of the above.

It’s Sylvan Esso… the shimmering electro-pop duo of Mountain Man‘s Amelia Meath and Megafaun‘s Nick Sanborn. Their self-titled album just came out May 13, 2014.

Meath’s voice floats and lingers like the wind, rising above the tectonic tremors of Sanborn’s beats. One moment you’re languorously gliding along through haunting loops and echoes, then you’re swept up against the textured synth layers that raise goosebumps on your neck. The effect on your dance moves- “the bow, the dip, the woo”- may be hypnotic. Don’t worry- they dance like that, too.

Watch the duo’s energy fuse and swirl in a few of their live performances:

“Coffee”

“Hey Mami”

“Play It Right”
